Does the job
I got this to prevent my horse from shredding his turnout buddies' blankets, and it does just that. This is definitely a big muzzle- my 17hh warmblood was able to get it loose enough to chew on the sheepskin until we rigged it up with some baling twine to attach it more tightly to his halter. The sheepskin is also rubbing away in places after only a couple weeks of use. Overall it does what I need it to do, but required a few modifications to make it fully functional.

cribbing basket
It does keep them from cribbing but it is so heavy, my horse stood with his head down because of the weight

Would not recommend for the outdoors
The fleece padding wears very quickly and doesn't weather well in the elements. There is no top snap so it hangs off the nose quite a bit even on my horses large muzzle. Otherwise the metal is very thick and strong. It does prevent cribbing while allowing access to food, grass, and water but I'm trying a different product.

Does the job
The clips broke within a week of using the mask and as one reviewer said hay twine works much better. The mask does what it's supposed to. We have a terrible cribber, nothing was slowing her down. This has worked. It is surprisingly heavy. Within 24 hours, even with the cover that came with it, she wore two huge wounds on her jaw. I covered her nose band and replaced the flimsy cover with a homemade piece of fleece that cushions the places that rubbed. It is obviously strong and our horse has figured out how to eat and drink, so she won't starve and we will all be much better for it.

Better than expected
My horse developed a wood chewing habit and was tearing up the fencing in his paddock. I did not think a cribbing collar would work and thought this would be much better for him to wear long term than a typical grazing muzzle. I didn't want to slow his eating down, just stop the destruction of the fence. He has been wearing it 24/7, no rubs and he doesn't seem bothered by it. I did however have to tie it to his halter with hay string, the snaps it came with were useless. I do wish it was lighter weight, but if tied to the halter, it doesn't put much of that weight on the top of his nose.

Better than most
Have tried every muzzle on the market. I have many horses; some are piglets, some chew fence, bite at horses lower in the hierarchy or rip pasture mates blankets. This muzzle is better than most. Addmitedly the snaps all broke within a week of use and the fleece is useless. I replaced snaps with hardware and fleece with better padding. The important part, the metal frame, seems to be standing up well after a month of use which is longer than any other type tried. Costly but hope will last longer=Better value for $.

Great tool against cribbing
I didn't give it a 5-star because the fleece padding is so thin and comes off pretty quick. I managed to save some by wrapping it in vet-rap to stay on and future ones I will wrap to start off with to avoid losing them in the pasture. I bought for 2 cribbers in my barn, their owners had the miracle strap but whenever they could they would continue cribbing. Tighting the strap didn't stop them at ALL. One horse is completely happy to wear it 24/7 and eats/drinks and grazes just fine. The other is 17 years old and probably been cribbing his whole life, I was worried about thewithdrawal of the cribbing and if he would colic because of it. But this guy manages to crib even with the basket, albeit only a tiny part of the fence but it certainly hasn't curtailed his desire one bit. He hates it but on well, too bad. I will continue to buy and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because of the fleece. Being able to purchase a replacement fleece would put it to 5 stars.

Well made but too small for warmblood head.
Nose padding is inadequate. I bought one last year from a different store and built up the nose padding with closed cell foam sponge covered with duct tape. It prevented my gelding from gorging himself on hay. I ordered two more for my mares but with the extra padding they cannot get their noses in deep enough to eat. These are smaller than the first one - would be suitable only for an Arabian or Thoroughbred type of head.Shipping was fast and reliable but the exchange rate and shipping costs were a shock. Would purchase from this store again only if the Canadian dollar value goes up.

Gave my horse sores
Made it extremely hard for my horse to eat his hay, ended up giving him sores on his lips from him trying so much and rubbing against it. He was very frustrated and would bang it around on everything, he had to move his head and try to scoop it in from the side to be able to get anything to his lips to pull into his mouth because his lips weren't able to grasp anything any other way. We expect it to make him eat slower but not THAT slow. He literally could only pick up one little piece at a time. We adjusted it differently (tighter/loosened it) and kept trying to get it to work out. We gave it about a week before we just gave up. It's not worth it if it is rubbing sores on him.

I have a wind sucker and this muzzle is the only one that prevents her from getting sick from wind sucking. It is tough and lasts for a long time though anyone interested in purchasing this product should know that a horse is a very powerful animal and can still destroy these, however it takes longer than with the other devices. This was the only way to keep my horse from continuing this horrible habit all the others were not successful.

Any way to buy replacement fleece for this?
Karen K on Dec 25, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have a different grazing muzzle and tried to find fleece for it. I saw some in one place but was very pricey so I jerry-rigged my own using some fleece and shoo goo. I worked great and stayed on for 2 seasons.
Can I use this on a miniature horse?
Bonnie M on Jan 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You could. I wrapped fleece around the nose band so it wouldn't rub on his face. If you double the layer of fleece I don't see why it wouldn't fit. Good luck
What is the diameter and depth of the cage?
Susan B on Aug 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It was too big for my miniature donkey so I returned it.
will it fit a draft horse?
Debbie r on Sep 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it should. This muzzle was extremely big on my horse. The normal size would fit a draft EASILY. Good quality product.
Good afternoon. What is the approximate weight of the muzzle? Thank you.
TAMMY S on Aug 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Funny you ask, I was going to re-sell it because I just Gelded my Stallion that I used it on today. I was using it so he wouldn't bite my other horses and it worked well. I'd say just a pound or so. It was easy for him to adjust to. so if you want a used one, I have this one that is still in great shape. Debra
