One of my minis pulls the hay from the feeder and pees on it. He doesn't do this with the hay in the hay bags.

Not a good choice for my horses. Could not hang it high enough to keep them from pulling the hay out of the top.

Do these come in mini size? I cannot tell how wide the opening for the hay to come out is?
Cheryl W on Feb 8, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I am not sure if they come in a mini size. The pictured horse feeder looks like the size I have. One of my horses did very well with it. The other horse, not so good as he had pulled the nylon threading where the hay comes out and pretty much destroyed the purpose the feeder is used for.
I have ordered some other day feeders from Freedom feeders. I found them on the internet and they have different sized feeders and my horses are doing wonderfully with them. I hope this helps.
Does top of bag close? In other words can horse get access to hay if they try to get it from the top?
A shopper on Sep 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, the bag does not close at the top. I do like this bag the best though. I have purchased several of them.

There is another bag which I did purchase from Stateline that has a flap and it velcro closes at the top. Unfortunately, I will not purchase it again because the clasp is too small to fit over the ring so you can hang it.
Could you use this feeder in the paddock or is it for inside use only? Would a horse be able to use this with a grazing muzzle on?
A B on Feb 10, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I haven't used mine yet, only going in the trailer for show hauling. I doubt they'd be able to get much with a grazing muzzle on, but then again, some are handier than others so it might work for yours? I wish the net area covered more on the front of the bag, but I think it'll be fine as long as I can tie it high enough to where he can't get his head in the top. That'd be my only concern about putting it in the pasture also - you'd have to tie it up pretty high or they'd just use the top opening. Sorry if that isn't much help!
What material is it made out of?
Jeri F on Mar 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm pretty sure it is nylon. I don't recommend it for an aggressive foodie horse, though. Mine stuck his nose in through the top of the bag, and then ripped out the webbing when I moved it higher up. A simple slow feed hay net worked better. I know many don't like to use those, but I kept a close eye on it and made sure to tie a good knot to keep it from getting pulled loose where it could be a hazard on the floor of the stall. Hope that helps!
Do you monogram these?
A shopper on May 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Although not a service we offer, they certainly could be monogrammed.
