Measuring Instructions:
Stand your horse as square as possible, and measure from the center of chest around side of the body to the point of the horse's rump just before the tail. If your horse ends up measuring between sizes, always round up to the next size to ensure full coverage.

Washing Instructions:
It is recommended that Tough1® blankets be hand washed in cool water using mild detergent. This may extend the life of the waterproof properties of the blanket.
If washing in a machine, it is recommended that a commercial grade machine with cold water and mild detergent be used. Remove as much loose hair and dirt as possible before washing. This will make it easier for the machine to effectively clean the blanket. Straps should be adjusted to their shortest length or removed, if possible, when machine washing.
If a spot remover is to be used, test on an inconspicuous area.
Blanket should be hung and allowed to air dry.

Horses Turned Outside Without Shelter:
Tough1 Turnout Sheet and Blanket materials are waterproof and designed to keep your horse dry. However, if your horse is turned out in a field without a run in shed or shelter during prolonged rain or heavy downpours, your horse may still get wet, especially in the neck and tail areas.
When using a blanket or sheet, it is critical to monitor the fluctuating climate and temperatures, even with a blanket that is waterproof and breathable. The wicking properties of a breathable blanket are designed to wick away normal body heat. When a blanket is too heavy, the heat and moisture cannot be wicked away fast enough, causing your horse to sweat. The temperature and the length of your horse’s coat will determine what weight of blanket you should use. For this reason, most people who choose to blanket horses have several articles of horse clothing that offer varying levels of warmth.
When selecting a blanket, be sure to take into account your horse’s behavior, environment, or other horses that may be turned out with your horse. The lower the denier number, the less strength the material has. 420 Denier and 600 Denier are not recommended for horses that bite, chew or rub on blankets, or for horses turned out with a companion or in a group. Always ensure your horse’s blanket is properly fitted and all straps are adjusted correctly. If a blanket is too tight or too loose, straps may break and material may tear.
For younger horses or horses turned out with a companion or in groups, it is recommended to purchase 1200 Denier or 1680 Denier material, as these are stronger materials and are less likely to tear. Certain types of fencing, such as barbwire, or foreign objects, such as nails, will easily tear any blanket no matter what the denier, so always inspect the area in which your horse is kept to remove any nails or jagged fencing that may cause damage. There are no horse blankets that are guaranteed to not rip or tear.

All my horses wear snuggits. I like them because they are quality blankets and can be adjusted for individual fit. I've been using the same blankets going on 5 years and still holding strong.

Already had one like it and decided to buy another, so I could switch them and wash them this winter as they get dirty. Also my existing one needs some repairs..

It looked like a snugger fit than blankets I already had and stood a better chance of surviving a lot of rolling.

Why use a blanket with belly band?
A shopper on Oct 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I love them. I have one for both my mini and my young horse (2 yr old).

Why use:

1) They Keep horses cleaner underneath. Two of my horses are Lipizzans (grey) and it seems like they always find the manure spots in their stalls!

2) They definitely keep the horses warmer, which is nice when they are turned out and it’s windy, cold snowing or raining.

3) Safety- When my 2 yr old was a yearling I got her one because I worried about her getting her legs caught/tangled up when she was in the stall laying down especially since I was wanting her to get use to sheets and blankets.

Hope this answers your question. Have a nice day.
What size blanket for a 15hh 800 lb horse?
A shopper on Sep 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The horse needs to be measured first. Stand your horse as square as possible. Measure from the center of the chest along the side of the body to the point of the horse's hindquarters just before the tail. If your horse ends up measuring between sizes, choose the one closest to your measurement unless your horse is particularly big-bodied.

Measuring is usually best done with a helper and a soft or cloth measuring tape. Be careful to measure horizontally without tipping the tape up or down. Take the measurement twice to be sure.

How high up on the mane does this blanket go?
Carol R on Dec 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Just covers the withers. Nice blanket when temps in 40's
Does the blanket include removable leg straps?
A shopper on Nov 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I believe so. I bought this blanket a year ago and it has been great! No rips or tears or anything since I got it and it’s still holding up very well.
Do these run small or large?
A shopper on Nov 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Very generous and well made. Bought it a little larger than i really needed to for my yearling. Love that it can be adjusted around the neck and of course with the front closure and belly straps. Plenty of growing room for her.
Does anyone use this on a Hard to fit, high head holding Arabian? The blanket I have now is rubbing his shoulders.
A shopper on Dec 12, 2018
BEST ANSWER: My horse is a rescue hanovarian, but since he had a similar problem, I will tell you it has stopped with this blanket. It has multiple ways to adjust the fit at the chest and shoulders so it slips a lot less and he can move in the snow and mud and not get wet under the withers and it doesn't rub him raw.
Will this blanket keep my older quarter horse warm and dry outside? We live in the south but the winters can be cold and wet
Virginia Lynn H on Nov 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I have an 18 year old broodmare that is a hard keeper, also in Texas. I do like this blanket for her. If you need a little extra than just this blanket, add a slinky underneath just for a little more insulation. Having hay available at all times helps wonders as well.
Which hood would fit with this blanket?
megmcm on Nov 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Any of the hood will fit this blanket, the blanket has the d- rings along the neck line. The size blanket usually runs off the neck cover size. If you need help please call customer service 1-888-809-0751.
