Great value
Better quality than I expected. The leather is a little stiff but is breaking in with use. One keeper broke the first time I used it. I got it for starting a young horse, because I didn’t want to spend a lot, and it is perfect for the job.

A Great Beginner Harness!
Love, love, love this harness! It is such a wonderful beginner harness to break your horse to drive without breaking your wallet. The leather is good quality, but stiff. After you oil it and hang it, letting it's own weight stretch it out a bit, it fits your horse even better. I have a Rocky Mountain gelding who is approximately 14.1hh and about 890lbs and he fits ththe cob size perfectly. The crouper is a little stiffer than what he normally wears so some horses might prefer a wider or softer option. I also wasn't the biggest fan of the reins since they're connected and there is no buckle to separate them and they are somewhat short. For driving a cart, it isn't too bad, but for ground driving, I ended up having a pair of longer split lined made for me.

first impressions
I didn’t know what to expect with the tracker harness as it was so affordable. And I haven’t yet tried it on my haflinger, so have yet to discover about fit. But first impressions are that it is extremely good quality for the price. I will do a thorough oiling of it and then set how it fits! I’m new to driving so didn’t want to spend the moon, and feel this will be a great start for entering the field of driving. The service from Stateline tack was fabulous. Arrived very swiftly to New Zealand!

Good for the price
Great begginer or working harness. Would work for small shows. Oil, oil, oil to soften and make flexable. Bought it for my Granddaughter to train my Fell Pony to drive.

Definitely worth the 2 month backorder wait time
I bought this harness for my 4 yr old ottb (16.1 hd, 1050lbs) it fits him great. There are plenty of adjustments that will allow this harness to fit him as he grows and gains more weight (fills in). The leather quality is unbelievable for the very low cost. I would definitely buy this harness for any horse again.. also the nice added bonus, is the harness bag for storing and transporting that was included.
Great Deal
First harnesses I have purchased without seeing in hand. Very happy with quality and price. Shipping was fast. Will be a great addition to my farm.
good sturdy training/driving harness easily adjustable to horse/pony size would recommend to friend
Excellent quality for the money
Very good quality leather driving harness with brass fittings. The harness included everything, the leather is double-layered, and it fits well overall. I ordered a cob size for my 14-2h Quarter mare; I had to punch a couple of holes on the bridle and extend the nose band for her Quarter Horse jaw. The price was about the same as a nylon set and this is all leather.

BEST ANSWER: Which size would you recommend for a drafty pony that is, I don't know, maybe 14-15 hands. I was thinking Cob, but he's pretty stocky and like I said, drafty.

What are the specs the cob size? I see it says for horses 14-16 H. Is that for the horse size and is the cob size different? I have a mare that is just 2" short of 14 H and weighs about 750-800 lbs

I would definitely get the cob size for that size of horse. The full size would be too big.

I have a 16.2hh QH and am looking to get a harness that won't break the bank. He is 1100lbs. Is there room for making personal adjustments on this?
BEST ANSWER: I think that this is a pretty nice harness for the money. I just started using it and need to make some adjustments myself. The hardware on the saddle cannot be moved but you can add some links to lower the side reigns. I have had a little trouble figuring out the placement for the strap that goes around the rump for braking. Probably not much help, but I am kind of a novice. My horse is about 15.2, but I think it would fit yours just as well. The quality is really nice for the price.

It fits my 16hh Saddlebred very well, but Saddlebreds tend to be a bit narrower than quarter horses. The harness fits on the last hole of all the buckles so I think you would probably have to punch new holes in it, but I do think it could be done. Overall I'm pretty happy with the harness so I say go for it. I'm sure stateline will let you return it if I doesn't fit. Hope this helps, and have fun driving!
My horse is 1200 lbs and 15.1 hands, this harness has room to adjust the harness for my horse. I am just starting to train my horse so I have not pulled a cart yet. I am very happy with this harness, the quality is very good for the price. I am very happy with this harness
I put this harness on a 16.2 quarter horse. We had to make quite a few adjustments and make shift work to use it. It was possible but lots of modifications were needed. The heads tall is plenty big enough. It was mostly just not long enough.
There is some room for adjustment, and it might fit your 16.2 QH better than its fitting our 15hh Mustangs. We're still working on the fit, but may have to buy some smaller pieces to make it right for our purposes. Good luck!
Yes the harness is adjustable. I have one and I love it nice harness and very strong actually I am going to get another one for my Gypsy Vanner
Cob size just fit my 14 hand slender Paso. I would order up for a larger animal.
yes it is a good quality harness- experianced horsewoman

Are there any instructions on applying this harness to the horse?
BEST ANSWER: No, there were no instructions. My daughter actually put it on our horse the first time and I think it's pretty easy to figure out what goes where. Our horse wasn't thrilled about the under the tail part though.

Ours did not come with any instructions, but it was fairly easy to figure out. Looking at the picture on the web site was all we needed.
No there is no instructions but it is really pretty straight forward. Had no problem putting it on.
Susan, I have emailed you directly with the harness parts guide provided to us by Tough-1.
No there isn't. But go on YouTube and there are alot of videos to help you.

Yes, very nice leather lines. If your using it for working I would buy a set of woven lines also.
I believe so. We have not used it yet. do those attach to the cart? If so, than yes. -David

Can I use this for my horse drawn plow? Do I need a yoke as well?
A shopper
on May 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It's too light for pulling a pole. Should get one with a neck yoke for sure
BEST ANSWER: It's too light for pulling a pole. Should get one with a neck yoke for sure
I am no expert, but this is definitly designed for pleasure driving. I would think you would need something much heavier for hitching to a plow. I don't think it is sturdy enough to hold up for plowing. Hope this helps some.
This is more of show harness and may not be heavy enough leather and stitching for plow use. I use mine weekly and have had to restitch some areas due to it not being as heavily stitched as I would like for my Fjords.
I have never had my horse pull a plow but I would think you need a yoke as the extra weight of the dirt.
My opinion only, I think you need a yoke to pull a plow. The yoke makes it better for the horse.
This harrness is for buggy pulling only. U need a colar type harness for a plow.
This harness would be considered too light-duty for a plow.

horse size fit a halflinger?
BEST ANSWER: I have a cob size, it's awfully big for my halflinger everywhere except the surcingle. I like the quality for the money BUT the fit is not consistent throughout.
BEST ANSWER: I have a cob size, it's awfully big for my halflinger everywhere except the surcingle. I like the quality for the money BUT the fit is not consistent throughout.
Depends upon the size of your halflinger i.e. how many hands and what is the weight? I would measure according to directions before ordering.
It did not fit my Anglo Arab, and a knowledgeable harness man said not to use it!
I bought it for Arabs and 1/2 Arabs but seems to have a wide range of adjustment
I originally ordered the cobb size but it was too small for my Hafie mare.

How much weight can this harness pull?
BEST ANSWER: While the harness is pretty solid thick leather, it is a plain driving harness. It's for light carts, small buggies that kind of thing. I'd say max a 2 person cart with a good pad under the breast collar. If you are looking to pull any real weight ie. carriage, wagon or logging you'd want a harness with a "hames" not a breast collar.

I've used it to pull a stone sled, carriage, and converted sulky cart with 2 adults inside. I've been nothing but impressed with this set, especially at this price point.
I can't say exactly how much, but I will testify that it is extremely well made and a very good price for the quality. A friend of mine thought I paid thousands
This is for a lightweight show cart, not heavy pulling

BEST ANSWER: Hi, If you are in a location where you have other Equine Friends that have driving knowledge I recommend you have one of them assist you. Driving like any horse event can be dangerous and you it helps to have a second person who is calm and knowledgeable to assist. Check out your local shows or parades to find people that have driving experience also. Hope this helps. Cheers M
There are many good videos on YouTube. Horses do need to be trained to drive so that they don't adversely react to the shafts by their sides or the cart behind them.. It would be best to get some help at first. Good luck!

What is the difference in tracker pleasure driving harness n the tough 1leather driving harness?
BEST ANSWER: The Tracker Leather Harness is just a nice basic economical leather harness. The Premium Tough 1 Driving Harness is an upgraded harness with a heavier leather and more finishing touches to make it a fancier harness. Both harnesses are made well and will work great for most horses inside and outside the show ring.

would this fit my Draft Paint cross that is 1400 pounds and 15.3 hands?
BEST ANSWER: Probably not, or if so then just barely. Your horse is just within the height range for this harness, but is a couple hundred pounds over the weight range (800-1100 lbs). You may want to take a look at a few other Tough-1 harnesses that have clickable information for specific strap sizing to see if one of these might be big enough for your draft cross?
