Great quality
Great quality but small. My appendix mare barely fits in this.

Good
It’s good quality for the price but it does run small. I advise of getting girth extenders if you plan on purchasing this surcingle.

Simple and classic
Only used once so far, but seems like a well-constructed piece of equipment that does the job well without any unnecessary fuss or frills. Rings are plenty big for the clips on my balance system to easily pass through. My only complaint is that it runs smallâ??it works for my 15hh TB, but I will probably have to use a girth extender with larger horses.

Love this!! It doesn't slip or pull and is not as rigid as normal leather one.

Awful
Terrible design for two reasons: it's much too small for any horse, and the padding is one continuous strip so there is no gullet for wither relief or stability. I can't even imagine why a reputable brand such as Weaver makes this.

Great for the price!
I love the neoprene lining. The brass D rings are huge heavy duty and could probably pull the weight of a truck! It is soft, nice looking and has a comfortable fit. I am using it on Arabians and it fits on the tightest setting. It has room to loosen for a little larger horse but I doubt it would fit even a bigger quarter horse. But just use a larger girth. The only thing I don't like are the nylon cinch straps I prefer leather.

Nice for the price, runs small
Nice product for the price. Runs small, which worked for me as I own an Arabian. Fits my 14.3 Stout Polish Bask boy on the last or second to largest hole. The issue can easily be addressed, if it is a problem, simply use a different girth or girth extender

Too small
I was really hoping this would fit my 16+ hand thoroughbred gelding, but it was just too small. I guess I could mess around with getting a dressage girth to see if that works like some of the other reviewers said, but I was hoping not to. It seems like a decent product for the price (other than the fit) but I can't speak to durability or any of that because I have not been able to use it.

Rings pop off
This does not hold up to double longing. If a horse resists the outside line very much, the D-rings pop off. I think I lost the first ring after 3 longeing sessions. There are a lot of rings and no wither padding, so you can just slip it sideways to the next ring, but that isn't ideal. For single-line work with side reins, this would probably be an affordable, useful item, but definitely not suitable for serious training (double lining). ALso does not stay put on the horse when using an outside line - just rotates around the horse's barrel. Fits a wide range of horses - a little tight on the 17+ bulky TB, but fine on a standard 16.2 warmblood and adjusts ok for a 3 year olds.I would only recommend this to people who only use one line and side reins I suppose. Nothing wrong with it for that. For serious usage, not worth the inexpensive price.

I needed something to attach side reins. I don't like side reins, but my mare is not improving in carriage. This looked like an economical, nicely fitted surcingle that is not too large for her.

I bought one of these and it doesn't fit my horse. Is there a bigger size?
Erin R on Dec 7, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I bought these 2 years ago and they fit both my 16.2hh and 17hh TB. Unfortunately, the straps are quite short and not stretchable. Then one of the buckles broke after about 2 years of use, so for the price it was ok. This is a one size surcingle.
15.2 quarter horse > good size ?
matthew k on Oct 13, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I used it on my 16.2 hands TB. I think it will fit a 15.2 QH. I've had it over 2 years and even after my boy have put on some weight and it still fits. The only thing that I thought could be improved are the straps. If they were longer or stretchable it would be much better. A very good buy for the price.
