Product Summary:

Weaver Leather ProTack® Oiled Split Reins

Weaver® ProTack Oiled Split Reins are crafted from heavy russet harness leather and finished with a four-step process. First, extra-heavy leather is double-stuffed for a “leadey” feel. It is then dipped in oil to add weight, dressed with saddle butter, and then hand-rubbed. The leather is soft, supple and weather-resistant while providing a broken-in feel and a classic look.

  • Water loop with tie laces
  • Made in the U.S.A.

These reins looked like they would be a good length and width for what I've been looking for. I ride Western and I like split reins.

I am purchasing these for someone that wants thin single ply reins. Yet good quality. Would these work?
A shopper on Nov 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I like mine as good working reins - definitely good quality. I use them with a small Arab mare so they are a bit long - should be a perfect length on a bigger horse or could be cut down if necessary. They start out a bit stiff out of the box, but wear in nicely. I would order the same pair again...
Are these reins really thick?
A shopper on Nov 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, I find them to be very comfortable thickness-wise. They are thicker at the end of the reins, though (perhaps for maximum smack-noise effect?)
Does anyone know if these reins would match the color of the Weaver Basin tack?
A shopper on Feb 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I am not familiar with the Weaver Basin Tack. When I bought my Weaver oiled split friend, it was to match the basket weave pattern on my saddle, bridle, breast collar, and flank cinch. They are a good color match. And, I like oiled reins. Sorry I couldn't help more.
Are these reins tappered on ends?
Marcia H on Mar 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Very nice reins. The best I have used!
