Weaver Leather Stacy Westfall ProTack Oiled Split Reins

Part of Stacy Westfall’s ProTack line by Weaver, these 5/8-inch wide, 8-foot long split reins undergo a special four-step finishing process to give them the look and feel of a treasured heirloom. First, the reins are cut from high quality Hermann Oak® harness leather. Next, the leather is dipped in oil, then dressed in saddle butter, and finally hand rubbed by Weaver’s skilled craftspeople until they look and feel as rich and supple as they can be. The result is beautiful, weather-resistant leather reins that feel soft and supple in your hands, as if they’ve always been your favorite. The reins are finished with stainless steel hardware including buckle bit ends for easy bit changes.

If I oil these reins, after purchase with neetsfoot oil, do you think they will look darker LIKE the picture shows? Some reviewers said the reins are not as dark as shown, but feel good.
Karen L on Dec 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You will love these reins! And yes they would get darker if oiled. It's really nice leather!
Does this headstall match the Stacy Westfall protack split reins? The color of the reins are much lighter in person than in the picture, so I'm wondering if the picture of the headstall is true to color.

BEST ANSWER: Mine matched perfectly. This set is not dark, but butter soft and nice color. The headstall picture is the truer color. Great quality leather and looks.
Could these be used for show reins? I show AQHA level.
Celeste L on Mar 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: While these reins are soft and supple, they are a much lighter oil than the picture. They are similar to the oil color of harness leather. I ordered the headstall and reins, but returned both because of the light color. Was very disappointed because the quality is excellent. If you need a schooling set, then these are fine. I just like a darker oil and, no, I wouldn't show in them. They are more of a schooling set to me. Everyone is different I know, so this may or may not help. Again, the reins felt great, but don't look great with the horse and plain headstall that matches.
Are these reins the same color as the Weaver Pro Tack split reins that tie?
