Bought this for my 6 year old grandson. He loves it and plays with it often.

Decent yet cheap
The steer head seems properly durable, but the rope is very very soft, which is good for kids yet bends and doesn't keep shape very well.

Perfect gift
This set was awesome. Everyone was thrilled especially my grandson. They stuck the head in a cardboard box and the kids could play with it inside the house.

Not at all what I expected.
I was disappointed with the roping kit. The steer head is VERY small. I just imagined it being a little larger. The quality is not great. The rope seems to be really cheaply made. Looks more like a $10 toy. I have seen a better rope in our local boot store for $15. The glove is a joke. About a 50 cent glove and not what I thought it would be. My son who is 9 looked and the glove and said "this is it?" He was disappointed. He's looking forward to trying it all out but all in all, you get what you pay for. By the time I paid taxes, shipping, added a rope bag etc.. I had over $40 in this and it's just not worth it. One of the mounting spikes was missing but I will compliment State line on speedily sending me a replacement part.

Jackson at 6 is trying to rope anything in sight, so this will keep him away from his sister and the cats! I am the grandmother and I know his mother will thank me!

2 Grandsons. The one that lives in PA wants to be a roper(he's 3) and we live on a cattle farm here in IN and I'm sure the other grandson(he's 3 also ) will put his to good use.

The Grand Baby is throwing every kind of rope she can find and roping anything that moves. She can even rope a chicken. So thought she should have a desent rope to throw. Santa forgot to bring one.

What is the appropriate age for the Western junior rope set?
A shopper on Nov 22, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I bought 2 of these sets for my 3yo & 8yo for Christmas gifts so they have not had a chance to use them yet. The only thing I see that maybe a tiny issue is that the glove that comes with it would fit a small adult. It is not child sized. I would say though that an appropriate age range seemw to be between 3yo &10yo depending on skill level and use.
Is this steer head universal to any roping dummy?
A shopper on Oct 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes! We purchased it for our 8 year old son. He has enjoyed practicing on it with the head shoved in a straw bale!
