I would like to know about seat size fit. I am small, 5'1" and 115 lbs...short legs, too. Would a 14" seat in this saddle fit ok?
Barbara E on Jan 20, 2014
Best Answer: I'm no expert, but, if you're an adult, see if a 15" will work.
It might hold resale value better since that market will be better.
Sadly, without sitting in a saddle it's hard to say.
:(

(I also have NO idea why it says that I bought a 17" brown saddle, when I bought a 16" black saddle)

What is the difference between a quarter horse and semi-quarter horse tree? Trying to select a light weight saddle for my quarter horse. She is about 1100 pounds, but not overly wide of bulky.
A shopper on Nov 9, 2014
Best Answer: If she's not overly wide or heavily muscled a semi will probably work. You can get an idea by centering a heavy, 16 inch wire over her withers where the saddle would go, molding the ends to the same shape as your mare and then measuring between the ends. Semi quarter is about 6 inches and a full quarter runs between 6 1/4 - 6 1/2.

Worst to worst, when the saddle comes, use a clean towel to check the fit so the underside of the saddle stays clean if it needs to be returned.

I am looking for a western saddle that I can use for trails on my 1/2 Icelandic horse. She is small. Any suggestions?
Ruth W on Dec 18, 2014
Best Answer: I bought the semi-quarter for my QH gelding. Due to extreme neglect when he was a youngster, he's pretty small for a QH, built more like a Arab. While I love the comfort and the light weight of the saddle, it's actually too big for him and I have to add a lot of extra padding to keep it from slipping. I also have the Wintec Australian saddle with the adjustable gullets. I've used it on him before, and had a much better outcome with the saddle staying in place.

Would this saddle be comfortable for a high wither Thoroughbred? and also what comes with the saddle when you buy it from statelinetack.com
Danielle K on Jan 12, 2014
Best Answer: I purchased this saddle about a month ago to 'break' my paint mare. She has a very lean, narrow conformation, similar to a thoroughbred and there is at least 2-3 inches of wither clearance. I have not had any problesm with saddle rubbing or sore backs, however, I also use a high-end wool gel pad. What you see pictured is what you get: the saddle, stirrups, and nylon latigo... you need to purchase the cinch +/- rear cinch separately.

Jennifer R on May 9, 2015
Best Answer: Yes, off billet and latigo strap is included. Both are nylon. Cinch of your choice must be purchased.
This saddle was purchased for a client, and he is very happy with it.

what is the difference between full quarter and semi quarter saddle?
yvonne r on Oct 1, 2016
Best Answer: A full quarter is a wider gullet than a semi quarter. I bought a semi quarter then ended up returning it and ordering a full quarter BC the gullet was too narrow for my horses back. I would say from experience that most horses take a full quarter.
Hope this helps!

what is the difference in semi quarter and full quarter?
A shopper on Jul 12, 2015
Best Answer: Full quarter is flatter because Quarter horses have such wide flat backs. Semi is angled slightly. When I did my reading up on that I discovered that they started making saddles like this when the Quarter Horse was the horse of choice. Hope this helps.

I have a red morgan horse and I want to do trail riding on my horse what saddle is best for me?
Robert W on Jan 19, 2017
Best Answer: (: There are so many factors to answer that question! It rather depends on you, the horse and the trails. Our trails have a lot of very steep hills and gullies, so I lean toward western and aussies because of the extra stability. Some morgans are quite short backed so if you are big, finding a western that has a big enough seat and a short enough skirt so as not to rub the horse can be tricky. If you trails are tough and/or you are inexperienced or have a spooky horse, I would look for a roughed out seat. If the horse has a sway back and you have enough experience, I would lean toward a treeless. downside of treeless can be mounting if you are short and the horse is tall... and if you have a spooky horse, again, less to hold you on his back. Aussies fit the horses a lot like English, so the bigger seats don't tend to extend over the horse's back, and the pollies add some stability. if you do long or difficult trails, you might want to look at the synthetics, as they are way lighter and easier to clean and maintain. I would suggest being ready to go thru a few to find one that fits the horse and you. it will be worth it in the end when you are cruising along the trails with a happy horse and a comfy bum(: Happy trails!

What is a tree?
A shopper on May 6, 2017
Best Answer: the tree is the part of the saddle that sits on the horse, there are two bars on either side, the horn at the top and the cantle (high part of the seat ) in the back, if not the right size and the right curves for your horses shape it won't be a good fit for your horse. you really need to have your horse measured by a saddle fitter in order to have a good fit for your horse. good luck, read up on saddle fit and I highly recommend having a saddle fitter do measurements before buying.
