I liked the price and the ease of setup. Plus, it looked easy to clean. In retrospect, I would not have purchased this item. It freezes very, very easily and it does require diligent cleaning. We replaced it with a Bar Bar A Horsedrinker that never freezes. I will be reselling this unit, as it has held up very well. If you live in a very warm climate and don't mind daily cleaning, it's a nice, substantial waterer and the horses don't mess with it.

Purchased one of these last year and it has worked great for my horses. I love it and so do my horses! Am actually buying a second one and intend to use it "off-label" to see if I can get it to work with my extra large dogs as they have broken every other brand of automatic waterer that I have purchased. They are always either out of water or flooding their yard. If it works with my playful/mischievous horses then we'll see how this "off-label" application works with my el-destructo dogs.

Is there a way to keep water from freezing in the winter?
Cheryl A on Aug 9, 2016

And saves on water
Does it bolt to a concrete pad? What keeps it stationary
Robyn R on Jan 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We used cement blocks and bolted with cement bolts. The cement blocks were 12x8x4. Did not pour a pad. Just leveled out the blocks and it sets nice and level.
