Product Summary:

STRONGID® C 2X Daily Feed Pelleted Wormer
by Zoetis, formerly Pfizer

Keeping parasite levels under control helps your horse perform at his best. Parasites steal nutrition, energy and good health from your horse. Left unchecked, parasites can cause damage to vital organs, impair growth and performance, and may cause colic. If you live in an area that is known for worms, or your horses are out in dry lots with other equines, STRONGID® C 2X Daily Wormer is not only easy to use but extremely effective. Safe for all horses over the age of three months, this pelleted solution covers a broad spectrum of worms. A daily dose helps break the cycle of parasite infection and prevent larval infestations. It can also be used in larger dosages as a rotational wormer.

Note: Each horse must be fed separately in order to insure proper dosage.

Features:

  • For the prevention of Strongylus vulgaris larval infestation in horses
  • For control of the following parasites in horses: Large Strongyles (adults), Small Strongyles (adults and 4th stage larvae), Cyathostomum spp., Cylicocyclus spp., Cylicostephanus spp., Pinworms, and Ascarids
  • Concentrated formula made of palatable alfalfa/molasses pellets
  • Safe for all ages of horses

Item Specifications:

50 lb. Bag

Guaranteed Analysis:
Crude Protein (min.): 11.5%
Crude Fat (min.): 1.5%
Crude Fiber (max.): 22.0%

Active Drug Ingredients:
Pyrantel Tartrate – 2.11%

Ingredients:
Dehydrated Alfalfa Meal, Wheat Middlings, Cane Molasses, Mineral Oil, Preserved with Propionic Acid.

Mixing and Feeding Directions:
STRONGID® C 2X is to be administered on a continuous basis either as a top-dress or mixed in the horse’s daily grain ration at the rate of 1.2 mg pyrantel tartrate per lb. of body weight daily. To achieve this dose, administer 0.5 oz. per 250 lb. of body weight (2 oz. per day for a 1,000 lb. horse). STRONGID® C 2X should be administered for the entire period that the animal is at risk to internal parasites. Unprotected animals that have grazed may already have an established S. vulgaris larval infestation. Before administering, these animals should be treated with a therapeutic dose of a larvicidal product. Foals may be administered STRONGID® C 2X as soon as consistent intake of grain mix is occurring, generally between 2–3 months of age. STRONGID® C 2X may be used in mares at any stage of pregnancy or lactation. Stallion fertility is not affected by the use of STRONGID® C 2X.

Caution:
Consult your veterinarian before using in severely debilitated animals and for assistance in the diagnosis, treatment, and control of parasitism. Do not mix in feeds containing bentonite. Not for use in horses intended for food.

My horses are not fans of paste. Half of the paste hits the barn aisle or stall floor instead of the horse's stomach. One thing is for sure though and that's the fact that they love their breakfast and supper. This is simply a more effective way of keeping them wormed.

My mule is very difficult to worm with paste. This is the "no fight" solution.

It works, you can see the horses look healthier and shinier on Daily wormer. With staggered paste wormers you can see the in between times when the worms are feeding off their health. Seems like a better way to go to me.

I've used Strongid Daily Wormer for years on all my endurance horses. They've always had great gut motility no matter where we were or how long the haul was. Staying on a proven worming protocol is key to equine health.

The product is good for the health of my horse. The price from State Line Tack is good and I've had no problems with delivery (though the 50 lb bags seem to get heavier with the years).

Is this necessary if you are using a rotational worming paste?
Nancy H on Mar 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I have used Stongid daily worming for my horses for over 20 years, and in all those years I have never had a horse colic. I have never had a problem with an infestation in any of my horse either. I swear by Strongid. And in the past I had a vet tell me I should paste worm in addition to the Strongid every 6 months. So I do that now just as a back up to be sure that I'm getting anything that is resistant to the worming. And I do alternate the pastes. I'll use whatever is not in the Strongid C 2X. Hope this was helpful.
Do you feed this constantly or just for the month that you would worm?
A shopper on Jan 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Depending how you decide to work, there are different worms and stages. Paste wormer or purging for each season requires you purge with the recommended paste. We use daily wormer year round to catch each type and stage of worms. It is recommended if you suspect worms to purge for the season and then begin daily. Strongrid has worked great and have seen great improvement with horses we've taken on that have not been worked and showing signs.
can miniature horses have it?
k j on May 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have never fed this to a mini horse. I do know you feed by the weight of the horse. I don't think the wormer is harmful as it is a standard type for horses. It would be if the measuring cup goes down in weight far enough for your horses. But I am fairly certain it is safe for minis
does this work for lice?
A shopper on Feb 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: To my knowledge, it would have no effect on lice. The container makes no mention of lice. The product is sold as an equine anhelmintic (formulated to rid horses of intestinal worms, in particular various roundworms). Lice are arthropods attacking skin. (BTW, I'm NOT a parasitologist)
I'd suggest searching online for ways to control equine lice.
Can you feed the daily wormer while using Simplfly?
JoAnn P on Apr 25, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Several years ago, I had a concern and called the SimpliFly company. I was told not to feed them at the same time as doing so would make one (sorry I don't remember which) would become ineffective. Since I feed twice a day, my horses get SimpliFly in the morning and Strongid at night. That works for me.
Does this product c2x have ivermectin in it?
Vickie on Jun 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, Vickie, not according to the list of contents. Pyrantel Tartrate is the only active ingredient listed - especially for strongyles. We always give an Ivermectrin dose in addition.
