Poor sewing! Straps on second order were not double snaps on top. I believe the straps sent could increase the chances of a horse hanging itself. Additionally this really makes it a pain to secure and close. I wish I’d waited before I sent the order for more!Buyers should look at other brands! Stateline Tack should look for a new supplier!

Big, easy to fill and three nice straps for attaching multiple ways. If the clasps hold up, it will be a keeper.

Love it!
What a great find! First, it’s easy to load - much easier than a regular hay net Second, the straps for hanging the net clip on and off, so the net can be hung easily anywhere. And third, the web is heavy duty and, I’m sure, will hold up to long use. It’s a great purchase. Why did I wait so long?

2" WOVEN material soft on noses and mouth
I abandoned the Bale Barn as the netting was too easy to stretch. I'm on a quest to find the right feeder for my 2-Rocky Mtns for the winter months. One is an aggressive feeder. After using this for a few weeks, I can say I like the woven fabric rather than nylan mesh material. They can really push their noses into the bag to pull out hay (softer material). I also bought the Kennsington SF 2 flake bag, nylan mesh. It is a nice bag but my aggressive horse can shake and stretch the holes much easier than the Tough 1 WOVEN fabric. My plan is to get the horses used to eating out of a 2" bag, then I will introduce a 1.5" Horze Stay-Put SF, and then introduce a 1" full bale bag. My goal is for longer grazing periods on a single bale of hay for those early winter morning feedings.

Slow feeder for chubby mare
My NSH mare gained a little too much and we needed to put her on a diet. This slow feeder simulates a grazing mode and makes her hay last longer and is a more natural way to feed. Excellent quality and great value.

I need a slow feeder for my horse in the evenings so that she is content in her stall during the night. She has recently destroyed a twine slow feed hay net and I wanted something a little stronger. The reviews for this say this product is sturdy so I thought I would give it a try.
Marilyn Valeri C on Feb 23, 2018
I love the ones I have. Adding one for an older horse.
Angela K on Feb 17, 2018
Great price and wanted te type of hay bag that has this type of opening rather than the string type.
Judy K on Feb 4, 2018
my horse keeps breaking regular hay nets, this had good reviews for quality. Also it looks a lot easier to load than a normal hay net
melissa c on Jan 29, 2018
I currently have the Kensington slow feed hay nets. My OTTB gelding has managed to shred them in about 6 months. My instructor said these hay nets are stronger and her have held up really well. Going to give them a try!

Best slow feed hay bags I've tried
Leslie H on Dec 30, 2017
Needed for horse trailer. Good reviews and did not disappoint. Looks like it will last a long time, also won't be a trap for feet if pulled down.
Deborah M on Dec 18, 2017
Needed a hay bag that could stand up to my horse pulling on it. Good reviews and the straps seems sturdier than normal netting.

To slow down my horses hay intake
Kayla u on Oct 26, 2017
The net style feeders are hard to load and harder to hang in the horse trailer. I wanted something easy to fill but will close at the top so the horse does not pull hay from the top (defeats the purpose of a slow feeder). Looks durable so I hope it hold up better than the net style feeders.
James H on Oct 16, 2017

DARR ELL S on Nov 27, 2016
the hardware on the item is made from pot-metal. by about the 4th use the horses had pulled the feeders enough for the hardware to break. i wouldn't recommend these for anyone that needs to slow-feed a hungry horse. we will try and see if we can use them when we haul our horses anywhere.
karen r on Oct 30, 2016
trying a different type of hay bag than I usually use. Needed something more sturdy than the standard hay net type. So far I like it, accept I am looking for a more convenient way to fill it... a frame to hold it open while I stuff it.
Sherilyn D on Sep 27, 2016
We purchased two originally for a trial and are extremely pleased with the design and quality. These hay feeders will pay for themselves in a month by reducing hay waste. We are using them for our dairy goats and hanging them in their shelters. Amazing difference in how much hay is on the floor after they have emptied the bag. Big savings!
Shy S on Feb 12, 2016

how much hay will one of these bags hold? Is it easy to fill? easy to hang? what is it made of? I like to feed my horses with slow feeders out in the paddock but the cheap hay bags are often hard to fill so I am looking for easier options. Any advice on these bags would be great. Thank you!
Beth B on Oct 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Holds 1/2 square bale
How much hay can this hold?
Andie on Nov 9, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I weigh the hay and put in 6 pounds. It will hold more than 6 pounds.
can the top be securely closed?
A shopper on Jun 27, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I took off the straps that came with it. There are three sets of rings at the top. I then used snaps to close those up. I keep my horses hay on the floor/ground, so to keep with this tradition I tied twine tight around a corner post in the stall and then used another snap to connect. This way the horse will not drag it around when it pulls/yanks/paws at the bag. I have found this process to keep the stall cleaner, less mess and waste. Hope this helps:)
Is the purple completely purple, or purple and black (like the royal and black)?
Lindsey C on Nov 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have two of the purple and black.
Do they make a smaller one?
Barbara W on Aug 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Sorry, I do not know if they make a smaller one, but I have used this bag every day for over a year now, and it still looks like new. I was buying new hay bags every 4 - 6 months before buying this one. I can certainly recommend this fine product, especially at this price.
Is the purple one completely purple or purple and black?
A shopper on Aug 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Purple and Black.
what is that strap hanging down from the black one in the picture??
Patricia D on Aug 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The strap hanging from the bottom is used to secure the bottom part of the bag if you're handing it on a fence or if your stalls have bars, you can use the strap to secure the bottom by wrapping around the bars. I just removed the bottom strap because I use the bags in my stalls and they are hanging on a solid wooden wall.
What is the best way to hang this hay bag? I have never used this style before.
Ruby B on Jan 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You can hang the bag using the top strap. You can also use the D rings directly to hang it using snaps or clips. As with all hay bags, it should be hung in such a way that the horse cannot be tangled in it.
How large are the holes?
A shopper on Jan 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The holes are 2" x 2".
How easy is it to fill?
A shopper on May 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have been very happy with the net, I have it on the outside of the square pen, with the stock tank below to catch what falls out I keep them from eating off the ground. Our use a carabiner in the center to keep it shut. It's very easy to fill.
Is it possible to convert to a small tractor tire and secure along the edges? We have Tb's and they kick or chew on anything unless we use rubber. Has anyone converted this to a round container like a tire?
Maggie on Jun 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Im not sure how that would work as these are designed to hang with hay in between the woven sides. Not seeing your thought process in design its very hard to speak upon. I might suggest a bale feeder to set the bale inside a tire if you chose. We have them in square and round bales slow feeders.
I'm not able to tell from the picture whether this is round or oval shaped. Would I be able to slip this around a round plastic bucket, approximately 18" in diameter? Also, is there a specific weight capacity in pounds (lbs.)?
Matt C on Jul 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes you should be able to put it over the bucket. But weight capacity should be decent. It's made of nylon
When will the turquoise/brown be available?
Angela L on Apr 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: We are hoping to have them available for shipment mid-April.
