Ordered them before and now ordering them as a gift for a friend , they are by far the best padded halters you can find. They withstand weather without rusting on the metal parts, no fading and are easy to clean.

Horse will be standing tied to horse trailer for long periods of time during shows and the padding may add to the comfort of the horse during their wait. Giving it a try.

It looks like it has the fixed ring at the bottom and a snap closure on the side. My horse requires a chain over his nose and the movable ring at the bottom of most standard halters doesn't work very well. Most fixed ring halters have no clasp on the side and my horse only wears his halter when walking from the barn to our big pasture. Without the clasp, I have to undo the buckle and that is aggravating and takes too much time. This appears to have both and it is a really hard thing to find.

I like the padding, but my horses slip these halters off on the fences or playing with eachother. I thought it was just the andalusians, but the pony did it too when I switched her into this halter!

Love these halters, great padding leaves no "dent" on the nose. Great price. Some people complained about only one layer of nylon, but I have never had a problem and prefer the lighter weight on sensitive skin. A great value for the price and they have lasted for several years, its the soft lining that tends to deteriorate after a few years.

Hard to find pony halters in this area and need one for my Dad's mini-donkey.

I have an arab, what size would he be? I would say average.. but I am used to cob/full, he usually fits a full or arab, what size would I get?
Maddie F on May 3, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I happen to think these are great but run a bit large. It depends on how large your arab is. my horse is in that in between and love this halter but when he goes in the pasture he tends to lose this halter when he plays with others. It slides right over his ears even on the tightest setting. The padding is great but nice and slick for sliding over the ears. one great thing is that it never rubs any part of his face that some halters will do. Great product but better for a qtr horse head with the average size and haven't tried one size smaller so can't comment on that one.
Is the green color more of lime/light/neon green, or a darker/hunter kind of green?
msnap12 on Nov 14, 2013
BEST ANSWER: It is none of those, but more of a normal, true green. I like the color. I also like the halter very much. It is sturdier and has lasted longer than I expected it to. My horses do not pull back, so my halters have not been "tested" in that way, but they are great for normal use. The padding definitely protects the nose and behind the ears. A younger horse nibbled on the nose and cheek pieces of her mother's halter and tore little chunks of the padding out, but the halter was still strong and the padding still protected the mare's face. Try it, you'll like it!
Which is bigger: the pony size or the small?? Everyone is saying this halter runs so big, what size should I buy for my 1000 lbs Haflinger??
msnap12 on Nov 14, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I bought the small size for my 13-14 hand paso finos (usually I get a Cobb or arabian size for them) and they fit perfectly, maybe even snug. I would guess the "small" means a smaller horse and the "pony" would be smaller. Unless your Halfinger has an unusually small head, I'd go with the "small" or even the "average".
Could this be turned into a breakaway halter using this?

Breakaway Leather Buckle
Breakaway Leather Buckle
BEST ANSWER: Probably. You would have to cut away the nylon holding the buckle to use the leather instead. There are halters like this one ( http://www.statelinetack.com/item/weaver-breakaway-adjustable-halter/E017054/ ) that are designed to use that type of leather breakaway.
I can not tell on the snap for side. is it just a clip or a snap?
A shopper on Jul 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is a clip that spins so you can have the hook pointing out or toward the face (which I do for safety).
Is the noseband adjustable?
A shopper on Aug 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: No, it is not adjustable. I love these halters and have several of them. They last longer than I expected, too. They are very comfortable on the horses.
Does this halter have a detachable crown piece?
Laney on Jun 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No it does not. It's a great halter that doesn't rub. I've used them as field halters for years. The crown is padded as well as the noseband.
Does the comfort padded halter have an adjustable nose band?
Cynthia R on Jun 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No. it does not have an adjustable nose band. (Another side note: one of our horses spooked and pulled while tied, and the entire crown piece unraveled. It could have been a defective halter since it was purchased just weeks prior and not used/worn. It could be what you expect from a nylon halter. But I have multiples of this type/brand halter, and all the others have lived through years of use).
Are there any tags sewn on this inside of this halter? My basic Weaver halter has a sewn in tag on the right side that has caused skin problems for my horse.
Helen on Jul 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No not that I can see. I love this halter, I have 4 of them. I have never seen any problems when my horse wear them.
What size would a weanling be 4 months and is it a nice halter?
Ringa on Apr 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Can't answer the question about size but I have three of the horse size and feel that they are a quality halter. Comfortable, easy to buckle and unbuckle and the snap is great for grooming. I would purchase this product again.
Would the small be used for yearling?
carol g on Aug 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Small size is often used for weanlings. Here is the sizing information to help you decide:
Pony: Nose Band 8", Cheek 5.5" (approximately 300-500 lb pony/weanling)
Small Horse/Yearling: Nose Band 9.5", Cheek 7" (approximately 500-800 lb horse)
Average: Nose Band 10", Cheek 7" (approximately 800-1,000 lb horse)
Large (Oversize): Nose Band 11.25", Cheek 7.5" (approximately 1,100-1,600 lb horse)
Regarding colors…Are the halters black with the actual color in the middle stripe?
Richelle on Sep 17, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The color is in the middle. It's a nice halter for the price. I've had mine for a couple of years and would recommend purchasing it.
Is this Breakaway?
Kirsten H on Apr 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This is not a breakaway, but still a very nice halter.
What size would you recommend for a thoroughbred?
maryanne h on Dec 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would go with the average horse size . The reason is this. They are a little big on my Mustang that has a draft type physique and head. Shelby has a very wide and long head. Kind of mule like if you can picture that. On Rocky the Arabian or gained mix ( sorry they are both rescues so history is unknown except for the BLM Mustang with papers) the size is much bidgger on him . I had to add holes to the pole strap and a smaller breakaway piece to connect the poll to the snap. It still sits a bit crookedly and he can swipe it over his little ears with his front legs if he really wants to. Not totally a bad thing.
The drafty Mustang will wipe hers off on trees and posts without breaking the leather breakaway strap as well.
All of that being said I would say that these are genoursly sized. A regular would most probably be right for an adult Thourobred. I do hope this helps. Thank you. Monica.
I have a Tennessee Walking horse what size should I get him?
A shopper on Oct 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Probably an Average size? Here are the measurements to help you decide:
Pony: Nose Band 8", Cheek 5.5" (approximately 300-500 lb pony/weanling)
Small Horse/Yearling: Nose Band 9.5", Cheek 7" (approximately 500-800 lb horse)
Average: Nose Band 10", Cheek 7" (approximately 800-1,000 lb horse)
Large (Oversize): Nose Band 11.25", Cheek 7.5" (approximately 1,100-1,600 lb horse)
I've bought these twice now. On one order, the green was an emerald green. Then on the other order, the halters were a dark hunter green. Why is this? Are there two types of green? Or did the halter change?
A shopper on Nov 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Shades of green can vary by dye lot in each shipment we receive.
I have a "large" miniature horse (30" with a blocky head) and the Weaver large mini halters just do not fit her properly - I was thinking of getting the pony size on this halter -- is this a good alternative? I already own one for my American Paint and after two years, it is STILL PERFECT!
A shopper on Nov 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes- the pony size would be just about a half-step up, so I imagine you'd love the fit! As you already know, it offers some adjustment room, too!
Where is this halter made?
RL P on Feb 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This halter is made in China.
I bought 2 of these but sizes are too big , don't remember what I ordered . For a Quarter mare , what's the right size ?
Angy Q on Jan 10, 2014
BEST ANSWER: My 4 QH horses all use the regular size. And they vary in size. It is very durable and in my personal opinion, it was made for QHs, Thoroughbreds, and Tennessee Walking Horses! So I would recommend the regular sized!!!
