I have sandy soil and because of the drought we just had, grass is short and too close to the ground now.
S G on Aug 24, 2019
My horses eat the grass down to the dirt. I want to make sure the dirt doesn't end in their gut and cause them to colic. I suppose it's good to clean out their system once a month to keep them healthy.

Great product. We live in a sandy-soiled area and our hay even has sand in some of the bales. Wish the horses liked it better but will eat it with some wet cob.

I have watched our neighbor lose horses to sand colic its a terrible death. I' m not taking any chances. It's cheaper to feed this than the expense or death of your horse.

My horse had uncontrolled diarrhea last year in spring without a fever and it was figured out that she had sand built up in her colon (sand colic). With sand clear started in early spring this year, once the ground thawed as I live in Northern WI, we have avoided the diarrhea and she did not have the weight loss and overall looked much better coming out of winter.
Kathy F on Jul 5, 2016
Affordable product that has helped my horse stay clear of sand colic in our desert southwest environment. I treat him faithfully every month, and it's kept him healthy, even at age 33.
Tara N on Jun 12, 2016
Started using Sand Clear about two weeks ago on the advice of my vet after my gelding had a bout of colic. He is not on sand but does eat hay off the ground and as the vet said he can pick up dirt which contains silica and can cause an impaction. Fingers crossed that Sand Clear helps to keep him colic free.
Susan F on May 25, 2016

does stone dust bother horses?
A shopper on Dec 28, 2014
BEST ANSWER: What do you mean by stone dust? To much dust that a horse can breathe in can cause lung damage. I use this product daily for a week every month as a preventative to prevent sand colic caused by horses ingesting dirt and sand when they eat. I have been using this for several years and so far my horses have escaped sand colic which is good because I live in the Mojave desert and the horses live outside on a half acre dirt/sand lot.
how much does horse need fed daily?
A shopper on Jun 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Directions for Use:
For average size (1,000 lb.) adult horse, mix in one scoop (5 oz.) to 1.5 scoops of SandClearâ„¢ (5 oz. scoop enclosed) with daily grain ration for one full week (7 days) out of every month. Feed less to ponies, yearlings and foals; more to larger horses and draft breeds.
Will it help my horse gain weight after she is cleared?
Ahsoka T on Oct 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No. Sand Clear is just psyllium hulls that bind to dirt and sand the horse picks up during grazing to aid in preventing sand colic or impaction colic. It is not a weight gain product. Something to put on weight would depend on the reason the horse is under weight to begin with. Proper diet for their work load and age, deworming, teeth floating if it is needed and, maybe, a product for weight gain, such as Cool calories, Amplify or Super Weight gain.
3 horses will use how large of a container/month?
Fran T on Apr 2, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The 50 lb container is 160 day supply.
Directions for Use:
For average size (1,000 lb.) adult horse, mix in one scoop (5 oz.) to 1.5 scoops of SandClearâ„¢ (5 oz. scoop enclosed) with daily grain ration for one full week (7 days) out of every month. Feed less to ponies, yearlings and foals; more to larger horses and draft breeds.
Can this product be used as a preventative for loose stools?
Candace J on Feb 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Loose stools can be caused by many different factors trapped in the digestive system of your horse.
I would check with my Vetenerian before using a fiber to treat the symptoms.
Can I give this to my lamnic ponies without mixing it with another product ?
A shopper on May 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: As far as if it’s high sugar content or not, that may be a question for your vet. But, if you’re asking if horses will eat it alone, I think they will. It’s apple flavored. Mine like it in their feed.
You can always get vet approval first then try giving them a couple bites of it and see if they will eat it alone, like a treat.
I use it a couple times a year for 7-10 days to clear out their system. I don’t feed it year round. But, if the live in a sandy environment (Arizona, Texas), they may need it more frequently.
