My English saddles, jumping and dressage, are over 40 years old. The leather is supple because I've used glycerine soap.

what is the most effective way to use this?
Danielle r on Apr 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The way I use this saddle soap bar is to place it on a solid surface and with a sponge that you've squeezed out all of the excess water, rub it over the top of it and then clean your leather tack with it. You do not want to create soap suds! Suds means there is too much water in your sponge. Squeeze that sponge out until barely wet and try again. Keep rinsing your sponge in clean water, squeeze and rub. Remember, suds does not mean there's too much soap. It means there's too much water. Rinse tack with fresh, clear water after using the soap.

I am new to this and I used this soap on some tooled leather and now I have a white film on it and I don't know how to get rid of it. what idi I do wrong and what can I do to get rid of it? thanks
mike f on Aug 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: A white film just sounds like a little too much soap left behind. You did nothing wrong. Use a wet wash cloth that's well wrung-out to go over the leather. Keep changing the spot on the cloth as you wipe. You may have to rinse the cloth & repeat to get all the soap off.
