Product Summary:

Ivermectin Single Dose Paste Horse Wormer

Oral ivermectin paste for broad-spectrum control of parasites and worms.
  • Generic 1.87% ivermectin paste wormer for horses
  • Removes worms and bots with a single dose
  • Easy-to-dose syringe delivers the exact amount of ivermectin for horses

Ivermectin paste wormer is FOR ORAL USE IN HORSES ONLY!

Indications:
Consult your veterinarian for assistance in the diagnosis, treatment, and the control of parasitism. Provides effective treatment and control of the following parasites in horses: small strongyles, large strongyles, pinworms, ascarids, hairworms, large-mouth stomach worms, bots, lungworms, summer sores, and intestinal threadworms.

Dosage:
Syringe contains sufficient paste to treat one 1,250 lb. horse at the recommended dose rate of 91 mcg ivermectin per lb. (200 mcg/kg) body weight.

Administration:
(1) While holding plunger, turn the knurled ring on the plunger ¼ turn to the left and slide it so the side nearest the barrel is at the prescribed weight marking. (2) Lock the ring in place by making a ¼ turn to the right. (3) Make sure the horse's mouth contains no feed. (4) Remove the cover from the top of the syringe. (5) Insert the syringe tip into the horse's mouth at the space between the teeth. (6) Depress the plunger as far as it will go, depositing paste on the back of the tongue. (7) Immediately raise the horse's head for a few seconds after dosing.

Parasite Control Program:
All horses should be included in a regular parasite control program with particular attention being paid to mares, foals, and yearlings. Foals should be treated initially at 6 to 8 weeks of age, and routine treatment repeated as appropriate. Consult your veterinarian for a control program to meet your specific needs. Paste effectively controls gastrointestinal nematodes and bots of horses. Regular treatment will reduce the changes of verminous arteritis caused by Strongylus vulgaris.

Product Advantages:
Broad Spectrum Control
: Kills important internal parasites, including bots and the arterial stages of S. vulgaris, with a single dose. A potent antiparasitic agent that is neither a benzimidazole nor an organophosphate.

Animal Safety: May be used in horses of all ages, including mares at any stage of pregnancy. Stallions may be treated without adversely affecting their fertility.

Warnings:
Do not use in horses intended for human consumption. Not for use in humans. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children. Refrain from smoking and eating when handling. Wash hands after use. Avoid contact with eyes. The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) contains more detailed safety information. To report adverse reactions in users, to obtain more information, or to obtain a MSDS, contact VEDCO.

Precautions:
Formulated specifically for use in horses ONLY. This product should not be used in other animal species as severe adverse reactions, including fatalities in dogs, may result.

Environmental Safety:
Ivermectin and excreted ivermectin residues affect aquatic organisms. Do not contaminate ground or surface water. Dispose of the syringe in an approved landfill or by incineration.

Information for Horse Owners:
Swelling and itching reactions after treatment have occurred in horses carrying heavy infections of neck threadworm microfilariae (Onchocerca sp.). These reactions were most likely the result of microfilariae dying in large numbers. Symptomatic treatment may be advisable. Consult your veterinarian should any such reactions occur. Healing of summer sores involving extensive tissue changes may require other appropriate therapy in conjunction with treatment with ivermectin wormer. Reinfection and measures of its prevention should also be considered. Consult your veterinarian if the condition does not improve.

Storage:
Store at controlled room temperature - 68 degrees to 77 degrees F.

Size:
Net Wt. 6.08 g (0.21 oz). Tube size is 2-3/4" and the nozzle is 1-1/2" L.

Ivermectin is the best wormer I have ever used and my horses don't seem to build up an immunity to it like other medicines. It also treats more worms than other brands. I only buy the generic version so it saves a lot of money as well!

Apple flavored?
A shopper on Nov 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hello, this item is not apple flavored.
how often do you use it -every thirty days?
A shopper on Jan 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: That is a question for your vet. The answer to that question depends on many things, including what part of the country you live in, how many horses you own and your horse is in contact with, what time of year it is, etc. Plus, many vets recommend to rotate your wormers as over-worming can be bad for your horse and cause their bodies to build up a resistance to worming paste.
How do you know when to deworm your horse?
A shopper on May 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I worm every season = 4 times/year - unless more is needed, for some reason. I have never found any resistance with Ivermectin, and when I've tried to alternate/rotate with other types, I had problems. I aim to worm just before rotating pastures (which is 3 of the seasons), to help keep reinfection at a minimum. Then I harrow the manure in the former field to break it up, dry out, and become usable fertilizer. Many feed stores will offer a "bring in your own sample" day, and then you can have it analyzed for parasite types and load. Oftentimes, very young and very old horses will be susceptible to more parasites than midlife horses, due to less immunity.
Is this product made/regulated in the United States? Or does it come from over seas?

Is this product safe for weanlings?
Ringa on Apr 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Check with your vet to see if there are any horse wormers that should not be used with foals.
Never substitute an ivermectin wormer that is for another species (like dogs). While the active ingredient is ivermectin, it may be in a different formulation that could be harmful.
In the same light, Never give horse ivermectin to a dog.
Up to how many pound horse is this for?
A shopper on Oct 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: we use these for our horses up to about 1200 lbs. For our pony, we use 1/2 syringe. If I remember correctly, the syringe is graduated in 100 lb increments. You can use a double dose to kill a broader spectrum of intestinal parasites.
is this a cheep product? does it really work well?
A shopper on Nov 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Have used this a lot. Have not had issues. Last fecal we did was negative.

Does it seem to help your horse with worms? Are you satisfied with it?
A shopper on Jan 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does take them out.. it's the same as the high priced Ivermectin... Works fine, great price... I buy my supply a year at a time, and I can keep 6 horses wormed for a year for the price it would take to worm three once with the brand name stuff... no difference...
