How does it work?
Barbara W. on Mar 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I am assuming you want to know how the whole fly system works..not just the liquid refill I purchased from Stateline. The system works great. The liquid concentrate is poured in barrel and mixed with water. The barrel has an automatic timer on the top which you can program to go off as many times as you would like per hour and you can also control how long the spray lasts. The tubing is hooked up to the barrel and run thoughout the ceiling of your barn with sprayers (points) that are located wherever you want them. They are usually one in every stall and one in feed room, several down the isle and one in the wash bay..wherever you want to rid your barn of flies. When the timer goes off, a fine mist of the concentrate and water sprays into your barn and keeps the flies away. The system need to be installed (not hard) and sometimes the nozzle points need to be replaced but it is very quiet and easy t use and once you have it, you and your horses will not want to be without it!
I have a four-stall barn and will run all 8 nozzles. How long can I expect 55 gallons to last? What is a typical spray interval for this application?
Brian D on Mar 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There are many variables that play into this, such a the cubic feet of the area. The system will deliver a fine mist or fog to entire treatment area at a rate of 1 fluid ounce diluted product per 1000 cubic feet of area. For additional information i'd suggest reviewing the downloadable resources located in the product summary or contact Pyranha directly at 1-800-231-2966.
If I buy the spraymaster system, nozzle kit, and smaller bottle of concentrate, the total cost is ~ $200 less than the Spraymaster kit. What am I NOT getting if I buy the three items separately?
Brian D on Mar 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The difference most likely is the solution itself. The refill 2 gallon jugs cost ~$200 for the 55 gallon tank. You will need that concentration for the 55 gallon drum. The 30 gallon refills cost less and won't work proficiently in a 55 gallon drum. I love my system, I used to have someone come in and do it for me, but for that expense I learned to do it myself...super easy.Just don't forget to clean the filter every once in a while.
I have a five stall shed row barn that is not enclosed. I have a overhead fan I have mounted on the wall to keep them cool....a few questions:
Since my barn is not an "enclosed" barn will this product still be effective and
How will running the fans on the horses diminish the effectiveness of the spray?
Let me know.
Angela M on Jan 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: With the stalls not enclosed you with loose the effectiveness of the Pyranha Spray.
Also the fan will blow the the spray around.
My stalls are enclosed (7) and I have stall fans on all summer. I dot not have a fly in the barn while the Pyranha system is running 4 times a day during daylight hours. What ever gets out thru the open doors and screened windows keeps flies down around the immediate area of the barn.
Can you use it in a walk in shed line instead of a barn?
Barbara W. on Mar 25, 2014
BEST ANSWER: you could but spray outlets would have to be directed at the back of shed & as a mist some will stay on whatever it touched, some on the horse, and some will go off into the air currents. To be sure - you could try a contact spray - spraying all surfaces with a good contact spray to kill any flies etc. that land on the wood & of course keep your animal sprayed if bugs are a problem in your area! We close our barn, if we are in it when the sprayer goes off. If not we go on the premise that it certainly reduces the number of flies and other insects as well. Hope this helps - Would not be without it in the summer!
What size area does product keep fly free? Does product work on mosquitos too?
A shopper on May 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: we have a fly spray nozzle in each of our 15 stalls on the timer system. they are each 12/12 stalls. at it's height of usage it worked in 19 stalls. I programmed it to run 4 times per day. It did a good job on flies and mosquitos in the stalls. i did not have it in the aisle and supplemented it with fly strips.
Is this the whole system or just the tank?
David W on Jun 27, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This system comes with:

Polyethylene 55 gallon drum
Motor Pump
Automatic timer
Pressure gauge
By-pass valve
Connections
Instructions

Please Note: Insecticide concentrate, tubing and nozzles sold separately. System is expandable up to 80 stalls with purchase of additional tubing and nozzles.

Pyranha SprayMaster System Kit, item# E012324
Does the item include the necessary hose and nozzles to set up the system? They are not mentioned in the list of included items.
Ed Young
A shopper on Jun 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: If you need all the components to set up a new system, please take a look at the Pyranha SprayMaster System Kit (item E012324). Or, if you just need the nozzle kit and tubing, that is item E012325.
I have three of the 55 gallon systems. I have one barn system that once it is turned on and the system builds up a little pressure, it automatically shuts down. If I leave the bleed line open or part open, it continues to operate. Any suggestions as to how I can fix this problem?
Jerry M on Jul 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: You do have to leave the bleed line open just the right amount to keep your pressure, as you will find on the guage, at 180-190 PSI. Otherwise the system is made to shut down. Keep adjusting the bleed valve until you get the pressure right (180-190 PSI) and leave it.
What information is available regarding the toxicity levels for chronic exposure to the chemicals? The MSDS provides the LD50 numbers for oral and dermal modalities, but I believe those relate to acute exposure, not chronic.
Brian D on Mar 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Anything this technical re-the chemicals & toxicity levels - I suggest you call the home office.Any questions I have had they answer and are very helpful. . Have you tried their on-line web page. . They have a q & a section that may help you. Myself - I have use their products for 30 years without any problems. Remember, you can mist as often or as little as you set the timer for. Hope this is helpful. Karen J
Can this system be used outside the barn to control bugs in a backyard?
Jeff K on May 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Absolutely not.. It would cost you a fortune. Every time it went off it would blow away..
