These are the best fly boots out there! My last pair have lasted two whole seasons, which is way longer than the two weeks that other fly boots normally hold up!

I am hearing great things about these leggings, had to try. :)
Elizabeth S on Aug 5, 2018
I have used these for years ever since ShooFly Leggins were first made and they had their very own website. Now they go through State Line. These are the only leg fly protectors that stay up because they have long stays built in, one stay on each side of each leggin. All the other brands and I do mean ALL THE OTHER BRANDS fall down and droop. When they are on the legs, fly's do not get down into the leggins at the top even though there is an opening at the top. My horse never stomps his feet.

Some other boarders at the farm got these for their horses on recommendation from our farrier. They seem to work so much better then the usual fly boots on the market, very little stomping from any of the horses who have them!

These work exceptionally well. Finally found something that keeps my mini donkeys legs from turning into a raw mess from fly bites. They fit well, stay on when they get wet or muddy. Great product. Order two sets to see if they worked. Now ordering some for the rest of my donkeys.

i want to order shoofly leggins, but I do not know what size. What do I measure on the horses leg to know what size to order?
BRENDA B on Mar 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Sizes:
Mini, Length 6.25 in. Bottom Circumference 8.5 in. Top Circumference 10.0 in.
Small, Length 13.5 in. Bottom Circumference 13.5 in. Top Circumference 17.5 in.
Medium, Recommended for a 15 hand horse, average horse, quarter horse. Length 14.5 in. Bottom Circumference 14.5 in. Top Circumference 18.5 in.
The jump from mini to small size is huge. What happens if small is too big and mini is too small? Is there a size in between or can I modify small ones to fit somehow? I ordered small ones and they go up past his knees and are too big around!!
jmk55 on May 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They are supposed to be loose......that way they don't bunch up or fall down....they are not meant to be snug but have quite a bit of room at the upper part (the white is at the bottom).....
Are these sold in pairs?
Jennifer S on Apr 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes....they come with 4 in a package
Can you use back boots on the front?
A shopper on Apr 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes! All four leggings are the same size.
Are they waterproof? I HAVE HAVE A mare that loves to play in her watertrough.
Miryam S on May 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: With the exception of the faux-wool binding at the bottom of the legging (goes around the pastern), these are plastic mesh and waterproof. The faux-wool gets wet, but because Shoo Fly Leggins aren't tightly velcro-closed (like you have to do with other fly leggings), there is space for it to dry off AND, more importantly, it hasn't chafed my mare's leg while drying off. I do spray them off to keep as much mud and dirt as possible off of them, just like I would do with anything my horse wears. The plastic mesh material is well-chosen in this application. The material used is tough, but pliable. It stands up to the scrub oak in our pasture MUCH better than other fly leggings I've tried. It must have a good UV stabilizer and/or plasticizer to keep the material supple and retain color in pasture conditions. Some serious thought went into these.
So, are all 4 in a package the same size? I was wondering because generally the back legs are a bit larger in circumference than the front
Eileen B on Jun 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, but these are not fitted and it has Velcro down the length and a tab of Velcro top and bottom. They look like funnels. No rubbing and the bugs don't go down them. I have them on two huge horses. The one is out to pasture 24/7. (Wears these 7 months of the year) Both are still wearing last years boots even though I bought them each a new set. Great product 👍👍👍
What do I measure to get the right size?
Carrie W on Jun 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Measure the distance from approximately from just above the coronary band to just below the knee or hock. Also measure the circumference of the leg at those areas.

Sizes:
Mini: 6.25" length, 8.5" bottom circumference, 10.0" top circumference
Small: 13.5" length, 13.5" bottom circumference, 17.5" top circumference
Medium: Recommended for 15-hand horse, average horse, quarter horse; 14.5" length, 14.5" bottom circumference, 18.5" top circumference
Large: Recommended for 16-hand horse or draft size: 15" length, 15" bottom circumference, 19.5" top circumference
Can this product be used (24/7) on a horse stalled overnight but out in the day?
Aubrey J on Jun 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Our horse is in the pasture day and night. We normally take the boots off at night but have left them on overnight on several occasions with no problems. I would just check for rub marks after a day or two. I've never found rub marks on mine. These really do work well.
How many come in a pack?
KAREN D on Jul 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 4 in a pack. My horses don't like it on their back legs, so I have 2.pair now! I highly recommend them, and so do the horses♡
Am I purchasing a set or one?
Cheri B on Aug 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There are 2 to a package, you will need 2 sets if you want them on all 4 feet.....love them, easy to wash and work great!
why do these have such a large gap at the top? Don't the flies go down inside of them?
A shopper on Jul 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They are bigger at the top because horse legs vary in thickness and they allow for movement. Actually flies don't go down inside them. These work so well I wish I purchased them years ago!! My horses are rarely stomping.
My horse likes to swim in the pond. Will these still work?
A shopper on Apr 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This is the third set I have purchased. They last for me about 1 fly season. I will continue to get them as I have been happy with the product. Anyway, have had my horses turned out sometimes they find a large puddle to play in but we have no ponds. I don't think they would come off but may provide quite a bit of drag on their legs while they paddle. Something to think about.
How do I determine what size my horse needs?
A shopper on May 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Thete is a size guideline in the item and we found it to be pretty accurate....if your horse is 16 hands or better it very stocky, you will want the large, otherwise the medium fits most 15 hand horses.....
would medium shoo fly leggings fit a 14 hand mule?
Barb W on Jun 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Here is the size information to help you decide:

Mini: 6.25" length, 8.5" bottom circumference, 10.0" top circumference
Small: 13.5" length, 13.5" bottom circumference, 17.5" top circumference

I have a 15.2 Welsh Cob and a 15.3 Thoroughbred. Should I order medium or large?
Calvin on Aug 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Medium's would be fine, Large is pretty much for anything 16 h and over......
I own two miniature Sicilian donkeys, will the mini size fit?
Jennwubs on Aug 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure. I ordered the small for my regular sized donkeys and they are too large. They just walked out of them. So I sewed more Velcro on and make them fit smaller. I am willing to bet that the mini size is the best fit for your guys. I had three miniature donkeys at one time but never needed to used these on them. They are definitely smaller than my burros. The mini size may be too large and you may have to sew on extra Velcro which was very easy to do. Good luck. It's a good product.
how many in a pack?
A shopper on Jun 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 4 in pack
They are GREAT. Bought many fly wraps in past these don't shift down around ankle
Very durable material
can these be used on donkeys?
A shopper on Jun 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I used it on mine but got the wrong size the first time so I ordered the next smaller size. I tried stitching my own velcro on the first ones but they then wrapped around too much. His little hooves enable him to pretty much step out of them. The next size down worked.
Can you place these leggings above the carpus?
A shopper on Aug 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You could, but it might make them more prone to sliding down. Also please check the length for each size -- to make sure they wouldn't interfere with the knee or hock, if they will be used higher up on the leg.
Has anyone purchased these for a mini donkey? mine has such thin legs I'm worried they'll be too big
Robyn F on Jun 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I just purchased a second pair for my mini donkey. They fit him fine. I do have them as small as they go as far as where to place the Velcro and they have never come offf unless I take them off. They were a life saver for him as he had the worse summers itch you could imagine! I’m so thankful for this product! Well worth your money for someone with sensitive skin!
