Overall a nice halter
This is more delicate looking than a lot of the other rope halters out there & it fits my stout 14 hand quarter horse well.

It feels very sturdy but the additional knots didn't make any difference in the amount of "pep in his step" compared to a two knot halter.

4 stars because it's a lot more expensive than the other choices but I bought it because there was no middle ground between very cheap and this one. No regrets though. And the name silver tip is dumb as it's tip is just black like the photo depicts. :p

Great for my stubborn loveble equine
I have a 14.2 hand Paso Fino and ordered a SMALL. It fits perfectly and he willingly responds to my lead rope cues. I removed the metal lead rope snap and connected the lead in a snapless configuration.

Knotted Rope Halter
Have tried many halters for my part QH and this has got to be the best. He has a big but narrow head and this is perfect for him. Looks great and he responds to this one great.

Love this Halter
I needed a 4 knot halter for training and I love the flexibility of this one; it bends easily and very easy to work with and seems comfortable on horse. . Great halter.

Awesome
I love this halter. I used to use the traditional webbing halters and got very little reaction out of my horses. Since i have been watching Clinton Anderson videos, he recommend a rope halter with the two knots on the nose. Clinton's halter was to expensive, so I found this one. It's thinner then Clinton's halter, but he does recommend something thin. The horse has nothing to lean on like they would with a traditional webbing halter. It's alil big in size, but rather have alil wiggle room then to tight. I would definitely recommend this halter

I need a halter with extra knots to help control my mare at shows. She can get a little pushy and these halters are recommended. This is also a very good price and has good reviews.

wanted another rope halter like the one I already use and love it
Rhetta H on Mar 14, 2018
the four knots help apply pressure to the pressure points on the bridge of the horses nose so you have more attention and control over the horse.

Do you have the weight for the sizes ?
Laura H on May 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Small is usually used on horses approximately 500-800 lbs, Average for horses approximately 800-1100 lbs, and Large for horses approximately 1100-1400 lbs.
Is this halter made of a stiffer rope or softer rope?
A shopper on Nov 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello and yes this is a stiff type of rope , A lot of the other styles end up stretching a bit after being used over time . And it is a very thin type of cord and it holds it shape for as long as you own it . This is just like the type of halters that Clinton Anderson uses in the training of his horses , but it is a fraction of the cost . The one thing I do suggest is to never leave it on your horse when left out in pasture . This halter will never break no mater how big and strong a horse may be . If your looking for a stiff type of training halter that your horse will respect as soon as you put it on then this is the perfect one . I love this halter and I was so happy to find it at State Line Tack . I hope I helped with your decision in purchasing this perfect training halter .
Would the large size fit a draft?
Katie Beth C on Feb 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: My guess is, yes. I ordered the small for my 800 lb. quarter horse mare. It fits her perfectly--not tight at all. I would say that the average size would be way too big for her. Assuming that the large is that much bigger, it probably would fit a draft. Guess you could always return it if it doesn't work.
Are the knots adjustable on this halter?
A shopper on Jul 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It appears the knots are not adjustable. Seems they are affixed, glue or so tight it would not be wise to move them. They fit very well on my horse if the halter is tight or lose.
What size for my yearling filly? she is a paint and a yearling halter is almost too small and horse size halter is too big
Angela F on May 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Cob is the size between yearling and horse. It fits a horse similar in size to an Arabian.
How do these run a bit big ?
A shopper on Jul 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I believe the Silvertip Four Knot Rope Halter is true to size. I ordered the "small" for my small quarter horse (about 14.2 H) and it fits perfectly. Most "horse" or "average" sized halters are too big, so I decided to try the small. I'm glad I did. It fits much better around the nose and poll with enough length to tie a proper knot that stays nice and neat.
Is the large a good size for a Thorobred?
Tricia on Dec 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi Patricia , I have a Quarter horse mare that I bought this halter for and it fits great on her . Im sure you will be satisfied with this halter for your thoroubred too . This halter fits my mares head and I guess I can say her head is like a medium size and there is plenty of room and the strap that you tie on the halter has more length on it that if you have a horse with a large head it will in my opinion fit nicely as well . I am very happy that I had bought this halter from State Line Tack , it is a nice everyday Halter !
Will the large size fit a draft horse?
Kathy M on Mar 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would think so I have a spotted draft I bought it for and fits w room
does it rub?
A shopper on Aug 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No it does not. If it's not on properly it might but I have never had an issue.
