excellent and durable
The Kelly Green bags seems to be the strongest. Highly recommend as I am on my second summer with any sign of wear.

Awesome hay bag!
After buying several different hay bags, I found this to be one of the best.

Hard to hang
The net is great, BUT they have no rings at the top - so you can gather up the rope and clip in a trailer or stall.

Great hay net. Really works on slow feeding and my horse has yet to tear it up. He plays with it all day long.
Tried several so call slow hay feeders. This one really is a slow hay feeder. I have a horse on stall rest and it is very important to feed hay very slowly. This hay net does the job. It is large and it holds my horse with hay over 5 hours. I will fill it in the morning and check at noon and still have hay, sometimes hay till the evening. I have used this net for over 6 weeks on a daily basis and it is still holding up beautifully.

We like the nets. Our oldest horse however has already ripped one of them.

Good quality for the price
These naps are a little bit smaller than I thought they would be, but they seem very sturdy and so far, and are holding up well with an aggressive eater.

Holes too small horses give up
Holes are way too small for horses, they can't get any hay pulled through and they eventually give up.

Ultra slow haynet
I bought three of these in red and got got three hot pink ones. Good thing my guys don't mind pink. One turned away on it, way too much work for the reward. He's my pig so he needs to pick and not gorge. After seeing everyone else play with theirs he decided to give it a go. He's caught on now. The nets have withstood the first couple of weeks very well considering all the biting the boys were doing at first. They now know they have to lip the strays sticking out. Not only does it make them eat slower, but it is a boredom breaker. Even in the morning they will still have some hay left. If you need to slow your hay burner down this net will do it!

Shoddy quality!! Holes already, besides stretching..
Reviewed before with complaint of stretched out holes. This morning, found it was chewed through - in less than 3 months. March 11th to June 3rd. Horse has been eating out of slow feed nets for 7 years or more and is not normally destructive ( I don't mind holes after a year or so of use). Guess I'll go back to double-bagging the 2" nets unless I can find better quality like first one I had. This poor imitation is terrible.

Works well for the equine swine
I bought this for a Haflinger pony that could finish 2 flakes of hay before our Dutch warmblood was half way through the first. This has definitely helped slow her down. She was frustrated at first but then it helped keep her busy. She also likes charging the fence if she thinks another horse has even looked her way toward her hay. Now she's so busy working on eating she's preoccupied.

I'm switching to pellet feed and supplementing with hay... I currently use a 2" slow feeder and thought this would really slow them down going to 1"

My horse inhales his hay and currently has 2" net after reading the reviews I thought I would try the ultra slow feed net. I also have to soak his hay and needed a robust haynet

really helps slow feed. nice material

This is for a pony that is a very easy keeper but is also a hay vaccum. She can eat two flakes of hay within 30 minutes. The regular small hole hay net does not slow her down enough so I wanted to give this one a try.
heather s on Nov 27, 2017
I originally thought the 1" feeding was going to be good for slow feeding, but was actually too small for horses, will use wiht my goats instead.

My friend has some and they worked on her horses and the fact that it saves on hay and they don't have to eat off the ground

We like to have extra feed nets so in the morning we can just put the nets in the stalls.
EILEEN M on Nov 25, 2016
these are very durable and fit lots of hay to keep horses busy all night
Mary Ellen B on Nov 23, 2016
I like the size of the holes. I do wish these bags were a little shorter. I don't need to stuff so much hay in them either, I like my horses moving around and not standing in one spot too long.
Monica M on Nov 18, 2016
Hoping it's got really, really small holes that will take my fat horse all day to eat his hay and he won't be bored and notice the quantity has decreased.

one of my mares eats way too fast and the two inch holes do not slow her down. She eats really fast so I am hoping this one will slow her down

I have fat horses that need to go on a diet. I hope these last and slow them down. I plan to remove the cord and hang them in their loafing shed so I can just fill when needed.
Beth B on Dec 28, 2015
smaller holes then other nets. Less waste left on the ground.

What length is this hay net?
A shopper on Nov 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I'd estimate about 3' long - I can easily put 4 slices (each 5" thick) of hay in it. It took the horses quite a while to understand that they could get hay through the tiny holes (they were used to 1.5" holes) but now they are using it. I wanted something that would last them through cold winter nights. I think this fills the bill.
What is the best type of hay to use in the ultra slow feeder hay net?
A shopper on Sep 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Which ever your horse likes ! They all work just fine..although any extremely stemmy hay would be harder.....i use this with the " hay hoop" it works great..easy load...my horse eats sliely..loves the game if getting hay out. Keeps him busy.lbeen using an ultra slow bag filled & tossed in pasture too for over 4 years
Do these nets stretch out a little over time? I just got these yesterday and my mini has not had any trouble getting all her hay out but my QH mare isn't too happy with the smaller holes. I've been using nets with 2" holes for years and they have stretched with use to about 2 1/2 - 3" now. My horses mostly shake the nets to get the hay out rather than just pulling it gently out of the holes.
Lesley S on Dec 31, 2015
BEST ANSWER: i've had the same problem .. with both my horses and pony .. they do eventually get used to it but i felt like i always had to pull a little hay out in a few areas to get them started. i haven't noticed them stretching like the 2 inch but i haven't had them that long. i purchased 6 of them and i'm on the second one .. the first fell apart before it stretched due to the fact i cut intermittent squares to give them a few 1 1/2 inch square holes to warm up to :) i haven't cut the second one and have had it up for about three weeks ..it hasn't stretched yet .. the only way to help my three was is to Really load it up full with hay and pull a few starter strands out .. that seemed to open the holes a bit ..i wish they have a 1 1/2" .. that'd be perfect. i think these are to small and the two inch are to big .. for my herd anyway :)
Which material is the net made of?
A shopper on Oct 4, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Poly nylon, it's a great hay net and very durable. I didn't like it at first but ended up loving it.
Does this work with a smaller amount of hay?
Donaee R on May 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is a bit more challenging but yes They figure it out...i have put in a small flake or 1/2 a flake...my boy has a system of spinning it until the hay is packed tighter at bottom....lol but yes he can get gay out its a very good ultra slow way to keep them busy, eating slow & mimicing grazing better I use mine with a hay hoop In his tall......very easy Been using ultra slow feeders for 5 yrs.....whether tossed in pasture during cold weather or in stall...... ps mine has eventually created a hole to pull out more but I close it with baling twine...they are very durable
can I get 1 1/2 inch holes?
Sharyl T on Feb 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: i looked all over the internet and couldn't find 1 1/2 inch hole nets. That's the size I need. I returned the 1 inch hole nets as my horses were too frustrated with the small size and stopped eating. I settled for the 2 inch holes which they love. The manufacturer needs to offer more sizes.
Are these knotted?
A shopper on Nov 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They are not knotted. They have lasted me for about a year and I bought 6 of them as I have 6 horses. I'm no ready to try other types of slow feed bags as these have started to break down and get holes. Also they hold about 1/2 a bale of a 45# bale of hay. They are not the easiest to fill but save tons of money on hay any my horses love them. I'm going to try a different product now from hay chix and nag bags
What is the material these nets are made of?
Looking for alternative to nylon.
Linda S on Aug 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They are made out of some sort of poly "rope", which I think is a plastic product. Anyway several tiny strands wound together to form a sort of skinny "rope" which it knotted and woven to form the net. They are super durable, really like mine.
how thick is the material used for this net ?, i bought another net and my horse chewed thru it in less than 1 hour nylon was about 3/16 inch .... my older nylon nets have lasted many years but are made with a thicker nylon .. TIA
Ann C on May 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure exactly how thick the nylon is, but the three nets I have, I still use almost daily. One of the nets has come apart slightly at the very bottom, but otherwise I've had good luck with them. And as I mentioned, I use them daily. I hope this helps. If you need the exact width of the nylon, I can measure and get back to you.
