Larger riders need nice boots too!
Great option for larger needs. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that it would be nice to have a tall option for this size for a few extra inches in height.

The boots themselves are comfortable and good quality for the price. However, I bought the extra wide according to the size chart and they were massive, so I bought the next width down and they were still too wide. They have lots of stretch!

TuffRider Ladies Plus Field Boot
These boots are comfortable 'right out of the box'. The field boot style is great if you find your feet tend to swell at all, as the boot does not have actual laces, but narrow elastic that offer extra give. These boots are perfect for every day riding.

Not the same boot pictured.
They are an okay boot for the price. Low quality leather, wrinkled, mismatched stitches. Fit slightly tight in the foot. The boot does not have the concho pictured in the photo.

Quite disappointing
They're ok boots. Don't expect too much. You get what you pay for, and as I should have guessed, these are cheap boots made in India. If I'd known I wouldn't have bought, as I've never found the quality of Indian gear to be up to scratch. They don't look like they will last. The foot is real leather but I don't believe the shaft of the boot is real leather. It looks like PU. I'm very annoyed at this as it's not mentioned anywhere. I believe the reinforced calf section is to disguise this - it wouldn't take much rubbing on a saddle for the top layer to come off PU. Would have been a major deal breaker for me if I had known.I was hoping for a pair of boots I'd be able to use for schooling and then polish up for showing. These aren't them. They'll be fine for slopping around the yard, mucking out and general riding, but I'll have to keep looking for wide calf boots that look good in the arena. If I didn't live in Australia and hadn't worn them already I'd be sending them back.

Not what you expect
I was recently looking for new boots I can use for show and these where going to be the only one in my price range that would fit. I have large calf at 19 in and length of 16.5 in. These boots were large on my entire leg and the stretch panel on the back makes the boot look bulky and it creates almost like an lizard spine down the back of the boot because every part of it was too big. Except the length the 16 inches in length should have been almost even around the boot but the front of it was a good 6 in from my knee while the side of the boot was true to the size chart. This boot wasn't the best but it is sturdy, comfortable, easy on the wallet, and would be a great starter boot for plus size calves because I went through heart break with boots that were always too small for my calves.

Most comfortable boots ever!
I have some 40 year old custom made Dehners, but these boots are more comfortable. I'm 5'2", and should have gotten the regular height, since the short is a little low, but I'm 62, and riding for fun, not for show. I've used them twice a week now for more than a year, in 30 degree weather, mud, and 90 degrees. They are great and I will buy another (taller) pair if they wear out. The only reason they don't get a 5, is because the zipper seams aren't very flat.

If they fit, they would probably be fine
They were too tight in the calf and I believe that one boot was tighter fitting than the other. I ended up sending them back.

Disappointed!
These boots were wrinkled at the top upon arrival. Then, the ankle quickly collapses. The height is not true to size...it is much shorter than listed, so tall riders beware! I thought I would keep them to use for schooling because it doesn't matter as much. BUT, now the zipper pull broke after only five uses! Just not well made. I'll be buying better made boots and retiring these. Very disappointing.

If I chose the size 9 regular calf (17 1/2"), what is the height? when ordering it does not give me a choice of short or standard?
Tammy S on Sep 15, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Each size is available in both short height and regular height with either a regular or extra-wide calf.
Here is a link to the sizing chart from the product description:
http://www.statelinetack.com/ContentFiles/Sizing_Charts/E013959.jpg
From that chart, size 9 regular calf can choose either a 16.75" short height or 18.75" standard height.
What size is the calf on these boots? The size chart claims W & XW but I found no drop-down for calf size. Since I have a 20" calf, I need the XW calf. Thanks.
A shopper on Jan 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Gee, I have no problem with the drop-down. It says sizes 6-7 are 18', 8-9 are 19", and 11-12 are 20"
Is the height measured from inside, outside, or back of the calf?
A shopper on Sep 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I believe it's from the back. I got the "short" extra wide. I realized after receiving them, I probably could have gotten the regular height. I'm only 5'2", and they are kind of short. (I hate returning/exchanging stuff) BUT, they are the most comfortable boots I've ever had! And I have some 40 year old custom made Dehners. If I want to get picky, the zipper facing is a little puckery, but since I'm not wearing them for show, but just for function, I don't care. I think I've had them for a year, or more and I use the twice a week in all kinds of weather. They are great.
Are these true to size? I normally wear a size 9 in shoes. I'm also 5'1 so would short fit better or should I get the regular height?
Thanks

Is the shoe size in American sizing ?
A shopper on Mar 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I think so. It seems to run fairly true to size.
How tall are the size 10's? I am 5'10" and don't want them TOO short.
Carol O on Feb 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Sorry , I actually returned these because they were too wide for my son's calf . He's about 5'3 and 130 lbs. I don't remember them being excessively tall . Hope this helps a little .
Could I see a size chart?

How do you measure the boot height?
Arlyne P on May 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 1) Wear the breeches or riding tights and socks that you are most likely to wear with your boots.

2) Sit in a straight chair with your feet flat on the floor and knees at a 90 degree angle.

3) For boot width, have a helper use a cloth measuring tape to measure your calf around its widest point.

4) For boot height, have your helper measure from the floor to the back of your knee.
