The Loose Ring Snaffle mouthpiece attaches to the free sliding rings so that it follows the angle of the tongue. This is desirable because the angle of the poll changes throughout the ride. If the horse tries to "take hold" of the bit, it will rotate on the rings, making it difficult for the horse to grab the bit and evade the rider.
