The Shires Double Jointed Sweet Iron Pelham Bit is a superb pelham that works on the poll, corners, bars, tongue and chin groove. This bit will assist with control. The jointed mouthpiece will lessen the nutcracker action. The copper and sweet iron will encourage the horse to be softer in the mouth. Raised copper ribs help to prevent the horse from taking too much of a hold. Materials: Stainless steel, sweet iron mouthpiece. Stainless steel is the most common material for bits. Durable, easy to clean, tasteless and it does not rust. Sweet iron mouthpieces are designed to oxidize to produce a sweet taste which helps with mouthing. Copper ribs and inserts will encourage mouthing but also ensure the horse will not take up too much of a contact, ideal for horses that can take a hold.
